TRENDS & FRIENDS is a family business. Awee ter Horst, born in the Hague, Netherlands, grows up in Brussels, studies in Leiden, and consequently spends 4 years in Rome, a few months in Milan, half a year in Paris, 17 years in Moscow, and one year in Nizhnij Novgorod. Russia delivers his break-through as professional photographer and introduces him to the world of integrated graphical projects. Besides his studio-work, he is involved in photographic projects, works for a number of advertisement agencies, works in the fashion business ans organises two exhibitions in Moscow of his "own", more content-oriented, less commercial photo-art. Since the arrival of digital photography, the term photography has taken on a much broader sense. Nowadays, without the knowledge of graphical software, you get absolutely nowhere. Based in the Netherlands, I gather that we can apply that knowledge very well."

Viktoria Afanasieva, born in 1972 in Novaï, USSR, raised in Gorky (now Nizhnij Novgorod), returns to Nizhnij Novgorod after her study and after living a few years in Samara. She becomes anchor-woman of a popular regional television programme. Consequently she is employed in the film industry and the world of advertising. "We met each other by sheer coincidence. Awee came to our city for a shoot and I assisted him with this, that and the oth er. Ever since, life has taken on a completely different meaning. It is a fantastic experience to work side by side with him. We complement one another perfectly. Emigrating to the Netherlands is a new adventure and a challenge to me. I am confident that, one day, I will even master their horrible language......"
Martha ter Horst is the junior team member. Living in Rome, she is currently finishing her studies at the globally acclaimed European Design Institute IED (Istituto Europeo di design). "My preference goes clearly to complex graphical design. I use the available software for my personal art work as well as for interesting new approaches to graphical design for our clients. I work for TRENDS & FRIENDS on a free-lance basis and provide the "Italian style" to the company. I am responible for maintaining the network of local talent in Rome and Milan, and keep a sharp eye on fashion, trends and movements in de Italian world of photography, publicity and design. As soon as something new appears, the customers of TRENDS & FRIENDS will be the first to know!"
